How Your Reality Shapes Others

2-min read

Did you know it's possible to influence reality for yourself and those around you? Whether it's your friends, family, or children, your reality shapes theirs. Here's how:

Lecturing someone will never impact them as much as showing them will. Leading by example leaves the strongest impression because we base our reality on the narratives we construct about what's happening around us.

The fascinating thing about reality is that you can shape it. People mirror other people. So, when someone sees you working incredibly hard and achieving things beyond what they believed was possible, they’re more likely to expand their reality and expectations. On the other hand, if you demonstrate taking shortcuts for temporary gain, they'll start cutting corners, too.

Leading by example has a ripple effect in all aspects of life.

When the boss works late into the night with the team to meet a crucial deadline, it underscores the value of dedication, inspiring everyone to double down their efforts and strive for quality results.

Similarly, a shift in attitude can transform the mood at home. When we positively face personal challenges and view setbacks as opportunities, our partner mirrors our resilience. Their increased optimism naturally reinforces a cycle of positivity.

In the same way, modeling kindness and empathy teaches our children valuable social skills and demonstrates how positive behaviors foster meaningful friendships.

So, how can you expect the people around you to be more considerate, hardworking, and dedicated? You must lead with integrity and set a high standard for yourself, and in turn, you will elevate the reality of those around you.

Remember, the stories we tell ourselves shape our reality. What reality will you choose that is worth mirroring?
