People don’t behave based on what they believe, they behave based on what rewards them. When someone treats you poorly, it’s usually because that behavior works for them in some way. This shows up in friendships, at work, in relationships, and in parenting. What we tolerate becomes normal. What we reward gets repeated. A powerful happiness strategy is to change the incentives. Give your time and energy to respect. Stop feeding what hurts you. When the rewards change, behavior becomes clear, and peace follows.
